One of the highlights of the visit will be a tour to "The Gates of No return" the place where slaves were captured and placed on slave ships for the TransAtlantic voyage. This Slavery Tour will help to teach the skills of empathy and serve as a powerful tool to address oppression, privilege, powerand structural blindness.

This will be designed to enhance and build on classroom learning. It gives students an opportunity to see their learning come alive. It also is a fun way for high schoolers to get their community service hours done. Contact us to plan a memorable experience for your students.
Freshman Orientation: Creating Common Bonds across College divides
Many college freshman come to college with diverse experiences, values and backgrounds. These differences are often over emphasized and can be a source of unwanted and unnecessary conflict on campus. We help incoming freshman to focus on common bonds and to negotiate the divides. We do this by providing them with an opportunitiy to gain skills and knowlege to help them negotiate experiences that cause conflict. We also allow them to explore and discuss in a safe space issues of identity, ability, anger, fears and expectations. We allow them to do a service activity that helps to build collaborative skills and form a common identity as students of Our College. These orientations are done in a residential retreat setting and can last for 3 days to 1 week.
